Education

St. John’s is committed to the Christian education and formation of youths and adults. Our mission statement states that we make known the reconciling Gospel of Jesus Christ. Forming our lives and hearts by this good news is the aim of Christian education.   St. John’s believes Christian education is a life-long pursuit as each day provides the possibility for spiritual growth in Christ.
In addition to the liturgy, St. John’s provides all members with educational opportunities to explore and deepen their faith and understanding.

•    Christian Formation for new members who are preparing for Holy Baptism and new members who are already baptized who are seeking to renew their Baptismal promises. There is also preparation for youth confirmation.

•    Sunday School - The Bible’s stories are learned for life when they are learned at an early age.  Sunday school provides a Christian foundation for the years that follow.  Classes run until children are brought up to church half-way through the service. Sunday school meets at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays, except for the first Sunday of the month which is a family service.

•    Youth Group - A social activity is arranged for each month, as well as serving at the Community Kitchen every other month. Through service, activities and education, the youth come together in a safe environment to talk about issues of concern and how these issues relate to the lives and relationships of Christian young people.

•    Adult Education -  to deepen and expand peoples’ faith and to equip them for Christian ministry in the world.

•    Women's Saturday Book Group   Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.  The current book: Strength in What Remains, by Tracy Kidder.

•    Bible Study - Through study and small group sharing to come to know how God is speaking to us in the Bible more thoroughly and to reflect together about what this means for daily life. There are four home Bible studies currently meeting.
